To watch 3D movies on the Rokid glasses, here’s a guide on how to set up the content on your device and optimize it for viewing:
Rokid supports common 3D formats like SBS (Side-by-Side) 3D.
- Download the 3D movies files directly to a compatible device (smartphone, laptop, or tablet) or to a storage solution that can interface with the Rokid.
How to download 3D movies
The resolution of the glasses is 1920x1080 pixels, so we recommend watching a 3D movie in this format. All our movies on the site have the HSBS 1920x1080 format.
- Ensure your device has enough storage space, as 3D movie files can be quite large.
Using a Smartphone (Direct Connection via USB-C)
- Android: Connect the Rokid Max directly via the USB-C cable. The phone will mirror its display onto the Rokid Max.
- iPhone: Use a Lightning to Digital AV adapter along with an HDMI adapter and Rokid Max’s HDMI input (if compatible) to mirror the iPhone’s screen.
Connect the Rokid Max to your laptop or PC using an HDMI output on your computer and the appropriate cable for your Rokid Max.- Ensure your computer recognizes the Rokid Max as an external display.
Using a Media Streaming Device (Optional)
- Devices like Roku, Chromecast with Google TV, or other streaming sticks can connect to Rokid Max if you have an HDMI connection or adapter. These allow you to stream your 3D content from online sources.
Play the 3D Movie
- Open a Media Player: Use a media player app like VLC or MX Player on Android, or VLC or PotPlayer on Windows, which supports both SBS and Over-Under 3D formats.
- Select 3D Mode: Make sure to enable the correct 3D setting (Side-by-Side or Over-Under) in the media player.-
- If your player does not automatically detect the 3D format, manually set the output in the Rokid Max’s display settings (if available) to match the movie format.
Press and hold the right temple button on your glasses for 8 seconds to activate the 3D mode.
Adjust the video left & right or up & down in the player as needed.
- Battery Life: If using a smartphone, make sure it’s charged or connected to a power source, as 3D playback can drain the battery quickly.
- Audio: Rokid Max does not come with built-in speakers, so use wired or wireless earbuds for an immersive sound experience.
- Display Settings: Adjust brightness and other settings on your Rokid Max or media player for optimal viewing quality. With this setup, you should be ready to watch 3D movies comfortably on your Rokid Max glasses!
- In some locations, app stores also offer third-party online AR video apps in which you can watch 3D movies and TV online.
- 3D video will not display 3D effects when the glasses are connected via a wireless adapter.
